At the Wheelchair Company we are constantly answering questions and giving advise on wheelchair selection and wheelchair accessories. We have documented much of this information and now made it available in the form of brief mobility guides which cover most aspects relevant to disabled and mobility equipment users particularly users of electric wheelchairs, self propelled or manual wheelchairs, transit wheelchairs, sports wheelchairs and children's wheelchairs. Brief wheelchair history

All too often wheelchairs are often associated with elderly folk however frequently the play important roles to many younger people. Wheelchairs may still be foreign to you if you or anyone close to you has not experienced anyone using one nor been exposed to the lifestyle of a wheelchair user. You may already know how significant personal mobility is especially if you have broken your leg or ankle. Of course, you did not like being unable to move or at least go through your daily activities. Wheelchair cushion selection

Comfort posture and support are all paramount for wheelchair users, the more so the longer they spend in their wheelchairs. This boils down to the type of seating and the wheelchair cushion deployed. Wheelchairs need to have comfortable serviceable seating because their users spend much of their time on them. Wheelchair seat cushions need to protect users against sores and bruising. Wheelchair backrests are more frequently contoured and cushioned which helps with the seating position and prevent or minimize sliding down the seat and any form of repetitive back strain.
